Embark on an extraordinary journey to Ladakh, India, where wildlife, culture, and history converge in one seamless adventure. Led by award-winning wildlife photographer Martin Gregus, this exclusive expedition is limited to just 8 guests, offering unparalleled opportunities to photograph snow leopards, and Pallas’s cats in their natural habitat.
Stay at the beautifully located Lungmār Camp, offering easy access to prime snow leopard terrain, Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and welcoming Ladakhi homesteads. Each day combines wildlife tracking with expert spotters and Martin’s hands-on photography masterclasses, helping you refine your craft.
Your adventure begins in Leh with a day to acclimatize and enjoy relaxed cultural sightseeing. On the third day, you’ll transfer to Lungmār Camp, staying alert for live updates from expert trackers along the way. The journey then continues with days of immersive exploration, wildlife tracking, and cultural connections.
With nearly two decades of experience in snow leopard expeditions, Martin ensures an exclusive Himalayan adventure that balances cutting-edge photographic techniques with guest comfort and authentic experiences, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia, Martin Gregus is an internationally awarded wildlife photographer and cinematographer. His passion for travel and photography began at the age of 8, growing up in a household full of artists. He learned the craft from his father – also a photographer – before venturing out to document local wildlife on his own. Martin first traveled around the world through the hundreds of National Geographic magazines in his home, sparking a lifelong fascination with far-flung landscapes and wildlife.
Now after 19 years, Martin has journeyed to all seven continents, visiting dozens of countries and some of the planet’s most unique ecosystems. His images have received numerous accolades, including two wins and two nominations at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in London, UK.
Currently based in Canada, Martin has worked extensively across the Americas and the South Pacific. However, it is his expertise in the Arctic and Antarctica that has earned him worldwide recognition. Notably, his project “33 Days Among the Bears,” documenting polar bears, became an international sensation following coverage in National Geographic in 2022. Since then, Martin has continued exploring polar regions, contributing to cinematic projects for Disney, BBC, and Netflix.

The search for Snow Leopards
Each morning, our expert spotters leave camp early in 4x4s, positioning themselves at strategic points across the valleys to scan ridgelines and slopes for signs of elusive wildlife, especially snow leopards. Reports are sent back to camp, and guests usually wake around 7 AM to a warm, inviting dining area with hot French presses, pots of tea, and made-to-order breakfast.
Each day involves a mix of driving and walking, providing a dynamic and engaging tracking experience. Guests enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at camp or packed for the journey, ensuring energy for long days in the field.
During downtime, visit local homes and villages to gain insight into the region’s culture and the crucial role of local communities in conservation. These encounters highlight the rich cultural tapestry of Ladakh and the interconnectedness of its people and wildlife.
Throughout the expedition, engage with Martin Gregus, learning from a master of wildlife photography. Each evening, gather as a group to share stories, review images, and discuss photography techniques.
Overnight: Lungmār Remote Camp, Ladakh
Tibetan Wolves and Pallas's cat
After breakfast, transfer to the Changthang region of South-Eastern Ladakh, part of the Tibetan Plateau. This segment of the expedition focuses on rare species, including Pallas’s cats (manul), Tibetan wolves, Tibetan sand foxes, and Tibetan gazelles.
For four nights, stay in a local guesthouse in Hanle. As there are no hotels in this area, unlike the luxurious Lungmār Camp, our accommodations will be simple and authentic. Our team enhances comfort wherever possible with custom bedding and thoughtful touches, but guests should be prepared for a truly adventurous and immersive experience. The village is dominated by a spectacular medieval fortress monastery, offering a rare glimpse into life on the Tibetan Plateau.
Each day is dedicated to wildlife tracking and observation, guided by expert spotters who share insight into this unique ecosystem and its elusive inhabitants.
