Born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia, Martin Gregus is an internationally awarded wildlife photographer and cinematographer. Martin’s passion for travel and photography started when he was just 8 years old, having grown up in a household full of artists. He learned everything from his father—also a photographer—before venturing out to document the local wildlife for himself. Martin first traveled around the world through the hundreds of National Geographic magazines found in his home. Now after almost 19 years, he has journeyed to all 7 continents, visiting dozens of countries and some of the planet's most unique ecosystems. His images have received numerous awards, including 2 wins and 2nominations at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in London, UK.
Currently based in Canada, Martin has worked extensively throughout the Americas, as well as the South Pacific. However, it was his thorough knowledge and experience of the Arctic and Antarctica that earned him world recognition. Among various projects, his work with polar bears—in particular, his expedition 33 Days Among the Bears—has become an international sensation following its coverage in National Geographic magazine in 2022.Since then, Martin has continued his exploration of the polar regions, working on several cinematic projects for Disney, BBC and Netflix

The search for Snow Leopards
Each morning our expert spotters leave camp early, dropped off by 4x4s at strategic points across various valleys. They scan the ridge-lines and slopes for any signs of wildlife, particularly the elusive snow leopard. Reports are sent back to camp, and guests usually wake up around 7 AM to a warm, inviting dining area with hot French presses, pots of tea, and breakfast made to order.

These visits highlight the rich cultural tapestry of Ladakh and the interconnectedness of its people and wildlife.
Each day on the snow leopard tour involves a mix of driving and walking, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at camp or packed for the journey, allowing guests to stay nourished and energized throughout their adventure. The combination of expert guidance, breathtaking landscapes, and the thrill of tracking the snow leopard makes each day unforgettable.
During each day you'll have the chance to chat with Martin Gregus about his photography and learn from a true master of his craft. Each night we can tell stories as a group.

Tibetan wolves and Pallas's cat
After breakfast we're off to the Usangu Wetlands in Ruaha.
This Pallas’s cat and Tibetan Plateau part of the expedition is specially crafted for those interested in some of the rarest mamas species on our planet. The trip explores part of the Changthang region of South-Eastern Ladakh - an extension of the Tibetan Plateau region of India.
We’ll search for the incredible Pallas’s cat (manul cat), Tibetan wolves, Tibetan sand fox, and Tibetan gazelles.
For four nights, you will stay in a homestay in Hanle. While the homestay is basic, our team will make several adjustments to enhance your comfort, including upgrading the beds, providing our own bedding, and improving the overall stay experience. However, guests must be prepared for an adventurous stay, as there are no real hotels in the region, and the experience will be very different from the luxurious accommodations at the LUNGMĀR. The village is dominated by a spectacular medieval fortress monastery.
During your stay, you will explore the vast Tibetan Plateau in search of elusive and fascinating wildlife. This region is a haven for Pallas's cat, Tibetan wolves, Tibetan sand fox, red fox, and more. Each day will be filled with wildlife tracking and observation, guided by our expert trackers who will share their knowledge and insights about the region's unique ecosystem.

“Thanking the stars I found Airguides and Jono's trip. We were totally taken care of! Paul answered all our questions and took care of the details so all we had to do was get there. Jono Allen is an amazing, talented photographer who created a special group experience. The WHALES were mind blowing. What a gift to be in Tonga staring into the eye of a baby whale! This trip was a lifelong dream come true. I highly recommend it so much we’ve already signed up again for next year!"
"The Airguides trip to Tonga to swim with humpback whales was the experience of a lifetime. I have traveled all over the world, and nothing compares to being in the wild, rustic, deep blue waters of the South Pacific while interacting with whales and their calves. A wonderful and caring team made our adventures stress free. Absolutely amazing, so much so, that I am doing it again this year! Thanks a million Paul, Jono, Al, Alistair, Christian and Polly!"
