Step into the wild heart of the Serengeti on an extraordinary 13-day journey led by world-renowned wildlife photographer Chris Fallows. Limited to just 8 guests, this intimate safari offers unrivalled photographic opportunities, immersive wildlife encounters, and expert guidance in one of nature's greatest theatres.
Stay in exquisite luxury at Asilia’s renowned lodges, Usangu, Namiri, and Dunia. Each location offers a unique window into Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes, from vast plains to hidden wildlife-rich havens. Dunia, Africa’s first female-run luxury camp, provides not only world-class comfort but also an inspiring story of empowerment and resilience.
Throughout the journey, Chris Fallows leads hands-on photography masterclasses, helping you hone your skills and capture the magic of the Serengeti through your lens. Focus your camera on majestic big cats, towering elephants, and herds of wildebeest as they traverse the savanna - perhaps even witnessing the Great Migration in full swing, a spectacle like no other.
Whether you’re an aspiring photographer or a seasoned enthusiast, this journey deepens your connection with Tanzania’s untamed beauty while elevating your craft. With expert guides, intimate campfire evenings, and the chance to witness Africa’s raw splendour, this is more than a safari - it’s a story waiting to be captured.
Chris Fallows, a renowned South African wildlife photographer and conservationist, has spent over 30 years capturing breathtaking images of the natural world. His groundbreaking work began in 1996 when he became the first to photograph a great white shark breaching near Seal Island, South Africa, a moment that has since become iconic. Known as a pioneer in wildlife storytelling, Chris’s work has been featured in over 60 international documentaries, including Planet Earth and Shark Week, as well as in more than 500 publications worldwide.
Chris’s approach to wildlife photography blends technical mastery with a deep respect for his subjects. Through his lens, he showcases the magnificence of species such as great white sharks, African elephants, and black-maned lions, revealing their unique behaviours and ecosystems. His images not only captivate but also inspire conservation, often documenting rare or disappearing moments in nature.
Together with his wife, Monique, Chris devotes his life to acquiring and protecting conservation lands for endangered wildlife across Africa.
His philosophy underscores the responsibility of photographers to use their art to raise awareness and drive conservation, ensuring future generations can experience the wonders of the natural world.
The Journey Begins
Welcome to Tanzania. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you’ll be met and privately transferred to your hotel.
In the evening, meet your Expedition Leader, Chris Fallows, and your fellow adventurers, a relaxed introduction to the people you’ll be sharing this incredible journey with.
The journey truly begins over a welcome dinner and Q&A with Chris. Gain insight into what drives his passion for conservation work and how he uses photography as a powerful tool for change. It’s also the ideal time to ask questions and be inspired by his stories from the wild.
Settle in for the night and recharge for the adventures that await.
Wild, Unexplored, Untouched.
This morning, we journey to the Usangu Wetlands in Ruaha National Park.
Set beneath the shade of miombo woodlands, beyond the high-water mark, Usangu Expedition Camp will be home for the next four nights.
Spend your days exploring, enjoy game drives along the river and through forested regions in search of big cats, elephants, giraffes, and sable and roan antelopes. Or head out on foot to explore the dry seasonal floodplains and gain a deeper understanding of the ecological importance of the Usangu Wetlands.
As the sun sets, unwind by the campfire and take in sweeping views across the park, while a wholesome dinner is prepared over open flames.
Africa’s First and Only All-Women-Operated Camp
With the day ahead, the adventure begins as we take a private transfer to the airport and board our flight to the central Serengeti.
Dunia Camp will be home for the next three nights. Staying in luxury safari tents, you’ll experience the warmth and hospitality of Africa’s first all-female-run camp, a true pioneer in sustainable tourism and empowerment.
Here, the wildebeest herds journey south through the central Serengeti towards the sweeping southern plains. Occasional refreshing rain showers bring hundreds of migratory bird species and other captivating wildlife, while the revitalised savannah transforms into a lush green landscape, a breathtaking contrast to the dry season.
The Search for Big Cats
Today, we make our way to the vast, remote grasslands of the Eastern Serengeti.
Namiri Camp will be our home for the next three nights. Staying in luxury safari tents, you’ll experience one of the most exclusive and wildlife-rich regions of the Serengeti, where luxury meets untamed wilderness.
This is big cat country. Expect to encounter majestic lions, sleek cheetahs, and elusive leopards — and, with a little luck, the smaller but equally captivating serval and caracal. The open plains are alive with herds of grazing game, sustaining the predators that define this remarkable ecosystem.
If we’re fortunate, this time of year may also offer a glimpse of the Great Migration, one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles.
All Things Must End
As morning breaks, we’ll take a private transfer to the airstrip for our flight back to Julius Nyerere International Airport.
Our final night will be spent at the Sheraton Dar es Salaam, where we’ll gather for one last evening together, sharing stories from the journey, and joining Chris for a final masterclass on photo editing.
On the final morning, private transfers to the airport are included.

“Thanking the stars I found Airguides and Jono's trip. We were totally taken care of! Paul answered all our questions and took care of the details so all we had to do was get there. Jono Allen is an amazing, talented photographer who created a special group experience. The WHALES were mind blowing. What a gift to be in Tonga staring into the eye of a baby whale! This trip was a lifelong dream come true. I highly recommend it so much we’ve already signed up again for next year!"
"The Airguides trip to Tonga to swim with humpback whales was the experience of a lifetime. I have traveled all over the world, and nothing compares to being in the wild, rustic, deep blue waters of the South Pacific while interacting with whales and their calves. A wonderful and caring team made our adventures stress free. Absolutely amazing, so much so, that I am doing it again this year! Thanks a million Paul, Jono, Al, Alistair, Christian and Polly!"
